Odd & Ends

I have a hundred things to write about for the blog most likely. That is an educated guess of course, but there at least fifty drafts of posts that are in progress or a reminder note. And as if that were not enough, just about everything that I have come across the last twenty-four hours seems to have suggested another post. Some of them, however, are just not enough to make a full post on it’s on merits, so a collection if you well. Some of these by be revisited in the future though.

135th Kentucky Derby

As promised the other day (and ironically actually something I started a LONG time before the other day), I wanted to mention some details about the horses that I am thinking have the best run at the 135th running of the Kentucky. Yes folks, it is definitely getting to be that time and I certainly start getting excited about it right about now. Horses have done there two-year campaigns, if you agree with that or not and now they are hitting their potential prime on the race track and there is one race that stands out today more than other and that is the Run for the Roses that takes place always on the first Saturday in May.

Road to the Roses

First, yes, I have sucked the last few days on keeping my posts going for the month. Just got busy and absorbed. But now for something completely different. The Run for the Roses is just a little over two months away and I like to get excited about that. I played this fantasy stable thing last year that was a blast and there can be some real prize money. Oh and just so you my two leading favorites are Old Fashion and Stardom Bound, but there will be another post soon about those.

Slumdog Millionaire

Great movie that I got to see yesterday. It is getting near the end of its run, but is still playing locally at the Kentucky this week and perhaps elsewhere. Slumdog Millionaire was made in India and set in India. It has a little bit of a different feel then a typical Hollywood flick of the same style and probably hints back a bit to an older age of Hollywood in some ways. Everyone in it is Indian as far as I know and I have no idea of any are stars or not. Regardless, well worth cost of admission if you get a chance.

Beer Cheaper than Water

Something that I realized today while having lunch. It used to be that if you were dining out you could have a coffee or fountain beverage for a good deal cheape?r than you could have a beer to accompany that meal. These days however, that is starting to go the other direction. Much to my dismay it is not because beer is getting cheaper, but that beverages are just going through the roof from a pricing perspective. Anyway – some hero’s – anyone involved in keeping beer prices less than even water, much less soda-pops.
