Small Wants

AsparagusFollowing up on the post from yesterday I thought today I would mention some small wants of things that I would like to have. Some of these things are almost kind of random and therefore I am not really sure what category or picture to use at this point. I am also less than sure of where this will go and I am almost certain that I will not recall all of the things I am kind of tossing around in my head at this point. Anyway, without further contemplation on the details, here is the list:

  • I would like to catch up on all the blogs that I have started at some point or another and have waiting around here on the server at some point. Last I checked there are over thirty, approaching forty drafts. Drafts being of course the way I make a note to myself of something I intend to blog about. I know, from the not so distant past that some of those will no longer be really relevant, but most will still make a good blog entry at some point.
  • Similarly, I would really like to get back to making regular journal entries. Not that it is anything for anyone out there to read, but it helps me keep things in perspective when I write in it. I have, when I have managed to write of late, mostly done it with pen and ink as opposed the online version. Regardless though, there has not been nearly enough writing of late.
  • Keeping with this theme, I would really like to get back to writing the books. I made some good progress, though not nearly what had been hoped, back in November of 2008. I just need to get back into a habit of writing a bit on a more regular basis.
  • I am not sure this is a small want, but I am going to include it here. I want some nice weather without ice and snow and such for a few more days. I do not think I am likely to get this one in the near future, but it sure would be nice. Mind you, I don’t really mind the snow and such – actually rather enjoy it. The ice however has played havoc on networks and power throughout the area and I am still having issues, as even today a pair of T1′s had the fiber somewhere between here and there severed by a utility repair crew. Things like that and all the little things are making even seventh day since the storm be kind of crazy.
  • I would love to find my misplaced binder of ninety-six CD’s. I have just about given up hope on them and starting to think I left them on the top of the car and drove off at some point. I can not say for sure, but I am running out of logical places to seek them out. Okay, I admit probably thirty of those CD’s is not a big loss, but I am sure 2/3rds of them are well worth it and I guess if I do not find them soon I am going to have to seek them out in replacement form.
  • Some nice horse riding weather would be a bonus too. It is tricky this time of year though. When it is warm and decent it is so muddy to get out and ride. When it is not muddy it is because it is so cold and the ground is frozen or covered with frozen forms of fallen precipitation. Guess I should consider at some point a relocation to a facility with indoor riding facilities, but I do not really see that in the near future. And since it is about six weeks off from Gulf Wars, which is what I really need to get some saddle time in for… well anyway, you get the idea…
  • How about a day at the office where I can actually work on nothing but the projects that I have planned for the day instead of hither and dither and beyond with everyone having some issue that is an emergency fire that needs to be attended constantly springing up throughout the day. I end up at the end of the day with the same amount of project work with which I started the day.
  • Kind of bordering on not being a small want, but how about tickets to the Bonnaroo Music Festival this year. Last year the lineup was amazing and this years lineup is supposed to be announced this year. For that wondering, Willie Nelson, Robert Plant, Allison Krauss, Pearl Jam, B.B. King, and Metallica to name about three percent of the folks that performed last year. While we are at go ahead and line up an extra two or three days off from the office in order to attend it.
  • One that I did not even realize until I just had gander at a seed catalog, but now I want to order seeds and such and get some organic plants started for a garden later. I actually want to take it a few steps beyond that. The specific catalog was organic seeds and plants, with a particular bend toward sustainability. I only made it a little bit into the catalog but the apple trees looked delicious and the asparagus heads remind me of spring days and just grazing on the sweet stems right out the patch.
