MySpace Issue
I have been away from the blog for a few days, it was a busy week with things going on both in life and at the office with a number of people being out of the office. But I got a bunch of things to write about for all three of the blogs if I can just find the time to do so this coming week. As I was really pushing the new blogs last week, or was it the week before, I have run into some issues with MySpace. Actually specifically one issue and it is a major one.
Last week when I pushed a couple of links to specific blog entries over on the farm blog at travellershavenfarms.com to my bulletin space on MySpace. I was aggravated when later in the day I got a note from a friend who informed me that MySpace had labeled the link as either spam, phishing, or containing a virus and was blocking the link. I am not sure why this aggravated me so much, but it really did in a major way.
In the first place, I am 100% sure that there are no viruses or other malware of any sort embedded in the content of te site in question in any way. I will further suggest that the site is running well patched and up to date back-end code with very little in the way of potential security breaches. And the only phishing that goes on in regards to the site is the constant number of fake users that sign up looking for an opening that does not exist.
In regards to being labeled as spam I am put on the floor at the notion. First, when I consider the sheer number of what I would consider spam items that I have had hit my account as comments, to MySpace email box, and especially if open things up to the constant barrage of game invitations. However, bulletins have control as to how much who read/see of any given users bulletins to begin. Beyond that, those are only visible to friends in your specific network. If I am sharing something there wouldn’t it be likely obvious as to the reasoning?
Beyond all of this (and now I do recall what really aggravated me so much), is the inability as the poster of the link in the bulletin to have any recourse to the issue. It would have been nice, as it was my link that I posted on my bulletin, to have a link to resubmit for real human review in the matter. I did send an email to technical support at MySpace regarding this issue, but have yet to even receive the “we have received this notice,” much less a real response.
For the record, changing the format of the homepage and landing page and such are bad enough, but much more so then that kind of action, this is the kind of thing that I will let an account go dormant over and encourage all of my friends to stop using a social network over. I do not expect to have that much sway, but when in the vast majority of opinions MySpace is the number two they should think about things in a bit more depth.
** BREAKING NEWS ** MySpace flagged another link to the same site as spam; that is so wrong and just about the end of my using MySpace for anything serious.

Great site. A lot of useful information here. I'm sending it to some friends!
