All Hail Caesar!

Julius CaesarIn particular I refer to Julius Caesar, the one for whom the month of July is named. As I am sure more than a few of you have noticed, my month of July has really sucked. This is the third year in a row that July has not been all that great and I starting to believe, as I look back at the pattern that July itself has it in for me. I have made some reference to this in the past to a few of you in some other mediums, but this month continues to drag along and with each passing day it brings along additional torments and tortures for me. Lending of course even more credence to the thought that July indeed will one of these days be the end of me.

Right at this very moment I am sitting here contemplating this seeming curse, writing about it here, while at the same time watching a not so good western movie called Redemption and enjoying the lightning show. Which is current going on both North and South of here, which is a different pattern then normal. I have been thinking since the shower and brief storm early this morning we were in for a good this afternoon sometime. It is now dark, but the temperature and humidity has stayed high still giving room for a release of energy.

Back to my focus, so on Wednesday I went my storage unit and picked up somethings to get ready for Pennsic. As I have looked around for things I still have not found all the things I should have and what I have found seems to need a lot more effort then I recall it requiring. This is not unexpected of course and even not really all that bad.

On Thursday I got a call about my truck. Looks like indeed it is going to be a full transmission. Right now I am not sure if I should do that or not. Lot of money for a truck that has done nothing but give me problems.

Regardless I followed this up by swerving to avoid something in the road and hitting the curb with my front tire. It was instantly flat and this was not a happy thought. It was just muggy enough to be icky while changing out the tire. I realized though that was the same tire I had done something with not long ago and had spent the extra $10 to get a road hazard warranty. I was happy until I got to the store and starting into asking about it. Turns out the road hazard warranty really does not mean road hazards, but really translates more clearly to manufacturer’s defects only. I guess there could have been a road hazard in there somewhere that would have been covered, but all the exclusions would not have left room for much. After much conversing I realized I was not going to get the tire replaced at a prorated cost and gave up, biting the bullet to just pay for it. For the record, will never purchase a road hazard warranty again (and likely, while I am on the thought, never an extended warranty either).

Fast forward to Friday from that. I had a business trip during the day and had to rush back to the office for a conference call after that. This was all good, as a good friend was playing a local place and I had several friends coming with me to catch that show. I got there early, starting a blog and caught up on a couple of things. Then we left out and went a couple of other places. And sometime during that, my laptop, er, the company’s laptop that I use, was lifted out of my car. The door was locked, at least I am I pretty sure, but the windows were cracked somewhat, as Bitzer was in the backseat. Regardless, the loss of the computer is a pain the behind, plus the extra effort to make sure that nothing from that will compromise the work network. Thankfully I do not save anything like passwords and such. And now I am with an old laptop that will barely keep up with my typing if anything else is thinking about running.

I wonder with the extra expense of the tire and the extra effort that the laptop loss is going to cause if I am going to be able to justify Pennsic at this point or not. I also wonder if leaving out on Friday, July the 31st for a 6 hour drive is a smart thing to do or not.

Returning to Julius and July. I wonder if I have pissed off some part of the Latin Pantheon and that is what has the Fates so out for case this month? Perhaps there are things that can be pointed out, I am not sure. Regardless I can’t wait until August gets here – crap – that is named for a another one of those Roman’s is it not?

My transmission went out after Pennsic in 2007, and the bitch was finding one for a car that is 20 years old. It sucks and it is expensive, I agree. Also I believe that Kate has to replace the transmission in her truck so you aren’t alone.

I have generally had good luck with road hazard warranties; I got them on all 4 tires through Fire Stone in 2008, and had them on my tires before that. There have been occasions to use it and Fire Stone has been good in keeping to the policy and not playing games with exclusions and exceptions.

I am with you though on the month of bad luck. For many years March was the same way for me.

July is almost over though and you have Pennsic ahead of you. Have fun! If Kate hands you a post card, please sign it! :)

I had been suggested this web site page by this step-sister. I’m undecided whether this post is published by means of him as no person else know these kinds of detailed about my trouble. You’re astounding! Thanks!
