Lessons Learned

child_smileWe all have those AHA moments on occasion and I am no exception. I seem to be having more than a few of them of late. Indulge me while I humor you with a few of them here. In no particular order, though I think I did start with some of the easier ones…

  • Interpretation is really not that hard of a word to spell if you stop and think about it, but for some reason I never seemed to have taken time until just a minute ago. Finally decided that I was tired of working circles around using that word when it came up and worked it through finally. Not likely to forget this one for a while.
  • Bitzer is NOT a guard dog. Actually I already knew this one, but kept thinking in the back of head that just her presence was enough. I was wrong.
  • I can be wrong. It does not happen often, but it does on occasion. See the above for a case in point. It also often happens in regards to artistic and musical things, especially when my roommate is concerned.
  • I really should stick somewhere closer to my age group when having a date or outing. Deep down I really know that one well but occasionally I forget such things. More to the point, I have a lower number in mind and while folks can say it is just a number, when those numbers cross a full generation it probably is not going to be a good thing.
  • One really should not store any important information on a laptop computer that travels with you and you should definitely have backup copies of everything that is important, most likely in multiple places. Okay, this one is more of a reinforcement for me, as I already know this lesson well – but I did have a few things that I had been working on that I will have to do over now, but nothing like important pictures or passwords or anything like that.
  • The best plans for things often fall through and fail, often by nothing that was missed in your planning, but rather just the pure unexpected.
  • If one is filling a longing when not taking the time to write in a journal or in a blog, you just need to do it.
  • The more planning you do for contingencies in case of something happening the more out there and unsolvable the problem will be.
  • Do not count ones dollars before the eggs hatch or something like that.
  • When it comes right down to it, while it is nice to have plans and dreams of that special someone – in the end one must depend on oneself for true happiness and fulfillment of dreams and such.
  • I really should use my Linux based O/S systems much more. Not that I am rusty, but they were out of date and so many of the current tools that I had been using were not working correctly or had not been installed on those systems in recent times.
  • Putting things off to achieve the greater goal of things may mean you miss out things both today and because of Fate’s funny sense of seeming humor tomorrow as well.
  • There is nothing quite like the innocence of a child and especially the laughter and easy come what may attitude to put a lot of things in perspective when concerned about things otherwise.

As usual, I am sure I will think of a few more things to add to this list and will pop them in here if and when I do.
