Two Week Daytimer

DaytimerThat should probably really say two week night and weekend timer, but that seems like a mouthful.  Seems an odd thing to blog about, but at least more then a few of these I want a bunch of other people to come out and have at least half as good of a time as I plan on having.  So, I thought it prudent to just post what it is that is coming up that I plan to attend, where  and when it is, and what my general expectations are of the matter.  Met up with me at your own risk of course…

17th September, 5:00pm: Thursday Night Live, BLCP  – Immediately after work I am catching the Blind Corn Liquor Pickers at Thursday Night Live on the old court house lawn in downtown Lexington.  The show starts around 5:00, but if you get there a bit late, they play until around 7:30.  Dogs are welcome by the way and they have food and a great choice of beverage available.  Bring your on chair (if you desire) but otherwise admission is free.  Oh, and the BCLP is one of discoveries I made last year.  Musically very bluegrass/folk cross, but a definite influence of blues and many other things and a lot of newer songs have a message in the same vein as Jean Ritchie’s material might.

17th September, 7:40pm: Kentucky Theatre, Food – I am not sure if I am going to do this one or not, but kind of wanting to.  It plays twice on Thursday eve and I am going to be in the area anyway.  A documentary styled narrative about the industrial food system we have here in the U.S.  I have read mixed reviews, mostly saying good information, but tried to put too much in one sitting, should have split into three or four documentaries.

18th September, 5:00pm : Gallery Hop – Probably not going to make this one and that means I am on a streak of missing a lot of them in a row.  However, it is a great time and I know there is one more coming up sometime in October or November.  These are in downtown Lexington and a lot of fun.  What is not to like, wine, cheese, and art of various medias?  And Surprisingly, there is usually something at several galleries for the kids to enjoy as well.

18th September, 7:30pm : Constitution Square Festival, Frankly Scarlet – The reason I am not going to make the gallery hop is my roommate’s band is playing a the festival.  The scheduled time is something like 7:30pm, but with a festival like that who knows for sure.  They sound great and have an eclectic mix of things they cover.  Some demos can be found on the bands page.  Come out and let them entertain for a bit.

18th September, 12:00am (midnight) :UK Hockey, Lexington Ice Center – Season gets underway. Come out and support the team – more information at the UKHockey.com website.

19th September, 6:45pm : Poage Landing Days, Joey and Rory – Not sure if I am going to do this or the next thing.    Aside from seeing Joey and Rory I have no interest in the rest of this festival.  Given that the drive, I will probably not go to this one – but Joey and Rory are one of the greatest things out of Nashville in a long time in my opinion.

19th September, all day : Kentucky Bourbon Festival – Probably where I am heading instead and probably for the afternoon.  I caught the tail end of this last year and it was a good time.  I think catching in more of a full force frontal attack will be an even better time.  For those wondering, the Bourbon Festival is in and around historic Bardstown, KY

19th September, 12:00am (midnight) :UK Hockey, Lexington Ice Center – Game two of the new season.  Come out and support the team – more information at the UKHockey.com website.

20th September, most of the day : Horse Riding – Taking Jack out for some riding, anyone want to met me somewhere?

25th-26th September, most of the day : Afternoon of Fun, SCA equestrian event in Burton, Ohio.  Long drive, but looks to be a good event.  Inter-kingdom stuff will be happening and generally a great site to do things.  More information at the website.

27th September, most of the day: Horse Riding – Taking Jack out for some riding, anyone want to met me somewhere?

27th September, sometime : Meeting an old friend that I have not seen in years, hopefully for dinner or something, but short layover type of deal so who knows for sure?

I am sure I have missed something, but obviously there are more then one or two things on the list that the more the merrier.  So let me know and met up with me at something.

Bourbon Festival WAS great last year. Stacy and I only went for one day, but had a great time.

You social butterfly you!!!!! I'd like to hook up in Burton, but I think that's the same day as a party for Mara, Ilsabet and Lawrence's baby....which means you will actually MAKE it...I seem to have been some kind of odd jinx of you making events....and Procrastinators was GREAT BTW....you wouldn't have been able to FIT in the tent too....soooo....
