Weekend Goals
It must be that time of year for me again… I don’t know? Earlier today I posted about weight loss and now I have a list of things I want to accomplish this weekend. Not sure if I will get to all of it or not. Helps me to stay focused though when I write out a list of what I need to do. Also helps me remember, especially when I finish one task, what else it is that I am planning on getting done this weekend. Yes, I do fully realize that if I get all this knocked out this weekend I will have to head to work next Monday to catch up on rest.
- Ride the horses, at least once this weekend. Would prefer to do it twice, but will have to see.
- In order to do that, I have to remember to pick up my saddle and I should go ahead and pick up my nice Historical Enterprises Lances too.
- Start process of painting lances (those above and some quintain lances) as well as spear shafts and a few odd pieces here and there.
- Walk, briskly, at least a mile, daily – keep it going!
- Continue with organization of basement, working toward goal of neatly packed away storage and having a small shop area to work on things (note: Have made exceptional progress on this goal the last two evenings, but still a LONG way to go before it gets to the point of really being able to do major shop type of work down there). Especially still need to get the stuff in the floor on the shelves and find some place for the small amount of fishing gear, medieval gear, and horse tack to go. Some is going to have to hang on hooks mind you.
- Make listings of those things that are just not needed anymore, particularly focused on some tools and especially horse equipment/tack. Large amount of horse tack will have to be cleaned in a major way before it can be listed. Will probably list on Craig’s List first given the decent luck I have had of late with it so far.
- Cleaning storage totes – this goes hand in hand with organization and selling above. Specifically though a lot of the totes are just nasty and I am trying to get them all cleaned up. Also a few of them are well past the prime age of usage with cracks and such.
- Pick up trailer and have it here for redoing some wiring. Not sure about the re-wire being the schedule, but will do either this weekend or this coming week.
- Answer a few overdue emails (note: I should probably be doing that right now instead of composing this list, but now I have it noted and will get it done).
- Hopefully squeeze in a little fishing in the lake/pond in the backyard, er, park.
- Get the wheels put on it to make my armor case a rolling armor case. To clarify, it is a big suitcase, but the wheels were broke off when I purchased it. I have had replacements for over a year – need to just DO IT!
- Cut out additional boards from palette which will allow the construction of another plant box for herbs. Maybe do enough for a second plant box for more tomatoes.
- Take recyclable materials to recycling pickup.
- Make a couple more of the experimental two liter bottle planters and see what we can put in them.
- Crazy idea – I know, but if I get the boards mostly off the big supports in the palette, use them to start construction on the new work bench. I do NOT think this can be finished, as I doubt there being enough boards available for the project.
- Along the same lines, a few of the shorter pieces might, if done correctly and line with felt, but good for mounting on the wall to hang rod/reel combos, but still need to think that through.
- Fighter practice on Sunday afternoon, though do need to verify it is happening before I head up there for that.
- BLOG a bunch, as I need to get back in the habit.
- Take my lovely wife out to a movie – maybe Toy Story?
- Finishing up my laundry in there somewhere that I started this evening would be grand as well.
- Also have a thought about using some old sheets to make protective sleeves for the soon to be ‘awesomely’ painted lances. Granted it will be of cotton instead of linen, but then again I also have some cotton mix stuff that is a bit heavier in nature that should maybe used instead. Later could get some wax and basically have oil cloth to repel water as well.
- If I do get all that done, there is always that little room upstairs that has some crazy lack of organization going on up there.
- Speaking of that room, I do need to get all those old papers shredded in the morning or early afternoon, as the shredder needs to go back to its owner.
