State the Obvious

Screen ProtectorSomethings are so obvious and yet they are still outstanding issues, so I thought I would post about a couple of them I have observed lately. One that comes to my immediate mind is of course screen protectors on all these different little electronic devices. I just do not get it in regards of why they are not included pre-installed on the devices ready to go when we purchase them. Screen Protectors should come pre-installed on the devices. Okay, maybe, just maybe I am being influenced a little bit by the frustration of putting the screen protector on my Amazon Kindle yesterday. But then again, if they darn things were pre-installed I would not have to be living the frustration of getting everything all lined up and then having to work so hard to eliminate all the air bubbles, right?

Is there anyone that would not like the various devices to come with the screen protector pre-installed? And I am not talking about those cheap films, but the thicker ones that will stand up for a bit of time, maybe a nice mylar screen protector. Yeah, I know in theory that they are designed to be changed out every once in a while. On the hand of that, my experience with the better thicker protectors is that they hold up forever. Well, I do not know about forever, but I have one on some devices for four years and they are still very pristine. The cheap ones, I agree, will shrink over time, especially if the environment is dry and warm for any longer period. I know for me, I would gladly ad on the extra $5.00 for the nice screen protector to be pre-installed by a professional on all my devices. It should be a standard procedure and that is more than obvious, what do you think?

Another obvious thing that should be stated is how over used the yellow flashing caution light is. I mean, the idea is that the yellow caution light, especially flashing, will draw our attention to something. Something that usually needs to be avoided or at least have some caution exercised around the potential hazard. Have you been out of late? There is a flashing caution light on just about everything. I swear, while driving up Nicholasville Road to drop off my wife the other morning we were one of two vehicles that were not flashing a yellow light. What happens in this kind of situation is the flashing light as a warning looses its meaning as we become accustomed and even numb to their presence.

One more obvious thing and I will let it go to bed tonight. Anyone ever pay any attention to the traffic reporting on radio and television anymore? I am guessing as general rule, the answer is probably not. No one is the eye the sky anymore, but instead it is all based on the traffic monitoring capabilities of what is reported. In other words if the police are dispatched or on the scene of a wreck or disabled car it is mentioned. Maybe, just maybe, but generally not, if there is backup of traffic and the traffic camera system picks it up sometimes it will be mentioned, but generally not. What does this mean? Well, mostly that traffic backs up in areas on the odd situation that is not a wreck and nothing is said about it on the traffic report and so we mere drivers continue on our merry way and end up right in the thick of the slow crawling traffic snarl.
