Gym
Last night I joined a gym again. I had been debating about doing this for sometime. Heck, sometime is a huge under statement as I know I was contemplating it even back in the fall and maybe before that even. I had kind of decided that it was good idea and would get me in shape and/or keep me in shape over the winter months, especially from November through about March. Of course I had not gotten around to doing things and kept thinking about it and even called around and got prices and such as that.
Biggest reason why I had not acted? Honestly I just had not found something that suited what I wanted. First, I was wanting local and least to my mind there were very few options on that and they were small and generally catered to women. Beyond that though I was looking for something to use seasonally as I get out, in general, plenty during the spring, summer and fall. My thought was I could use during those months but probably not enough to make the cost worthwhile. But then most gyms require a contract of so many months and that all goes out the window – especially at the charge of some of the gyms.
Then I got a flyer with some coupons from Tamcor, which I had not heard of prior to this flyer. Did some calling and checking and it is not a bad little gym about four, maybe five blocks from the house. Rates are a mere $25.00 a month, which when I figure in the $10.00 per month for wellness the company throws in it becomes a no thought needed. Plus, one coupon waived the additional $25.00 activation fee. It is a month to month too, which is an extra bonus though I am honestly thinking at $15.00 a month why not keep it for those rainy days or even really humid days outside?
Of course even with all that, I still had a hard time with weather and such and sharing a car getting up there until I just literally made time on the day the coupon expired. Apparently I was not the only, as the place was packed with folks signing up for membership and such. I got a quick tour of the facilities and it all looks great. There are the typical bikes, ellipticals, and treadmills – all of which are facing TV’s and have audio jacks on the machines – which I just love. I will be spending most of my time on these, as I really need to cardio to build up endurance and maybe help with some pounds being shed. They also have all the free weights and resistance training equipment. The equipment is even color coded for upper and lower body workouts – though I am not sure how much of this I will be doing as I have my own stuff I am doing for my arms especially – for helping with jousting and such.
I was so tempted to go over tonight, but just too much stuff going on. Will have to plan that better going forward, but honestly I think going in the AM before work is going to my better option. Getting a second vehicle again is going to help facilitate that in a major way. Of course, it would help if they would put the hours on the website – going to have to drive by to see what time they open in the morning and get a better sense of weekend hours too.
