Posting Habits & Automation
As I noted sometime last week in a post, I had not realized how the automation tools I had been using were feeding one another and sometimes I was getting several different ‘links’ to the same blog post on different social media sites. I had to still admit it, but basically, it was bordering on a form of spam to be sure. One of the things that I realized out of this was that while some of the automatic tools were handy for things, it leaves out some of the warmth that can from a real person making the post. Additionally, often time the automatic tagging left out the photo links.
Of course, one of the things I had also pointed out to some one person in particular was the number of potential eyes increased with the post showing up in the various media a couple of times at very different hours. The thought process being that if the first post went out at say around 8:00 am it would get those folks who, like myself are either earlier risers checking things often before heading to the office or at least those that check things on arrival. On the other hand, there are those folks that never have time to check things and instead pursue them during the early hours of the afternoon, usually coming after returning from lunch or when taking that afternoon break. Which is why a 1:00 pm something or another is a nice option to catch those folks.
Do not worry, now that I have gotten, at least I think I have, all those different routes straight and eliminated the loops that was causing it and have even turned off the auto updates I do not plan to return to it. However, hopefully to be implemented by sometime this weekend (or maybe even Thursday/Friday) if I can get caught with everything, I will be writing the daily blogs sometime of an evening the day before and the post will always go up at 8:00 am. I will not however, be pushing it out to any social media network types of places until sometime during the lunch hours. So if you are morning person, check regularly (or even use a scheduled browser) in the am otherwise, look for the link after lunch in your favorite social media too. Oh, and I suppose I should mention you can always subscribe the RSS feed using the link over near the top of the page on the right hand side.
