NaBloPoMo & NaNoWriMo
It is getting close to November once again and once again I will be participating in NaBloPoMo. I am still debating about NaNoWriMo though, especially given something like four years of attempts without much to show for initial effort. For those not so familiar with the terms, NaBloPoMo is National Blog Post Month, where the idea is to post to your blog daily for entire month and is usually held in November. NaNoWriMo is short for National Novel Writing Month and again, held in November, the goal is to finish with a rough draft of a novel.
As stated, I will definitely be doing the NaBloPoMo challenge this year. I have used that as the motivation the last couple of years to get back to a more regular posting schedule. I never have a lack of things to post about at any given time but I do often either run short on time or especially on motivation to just do it. This year will be no different and hopefully like the last couple of years I will complete that challenge successfully and carry some momentum into the month of December. What I really need is a similar challenge in about March or April, since finding the post daily for a year in January of this year (note: I am not completing that one, but I did pretty good for the first couple of months of the year, before slowly loosing out).
In conjunction with NaBloPoMo, I will be posting on my other blogs weekly for the month of November. This is something that especially needs to be done to get them going again – as they have pretty much been killed this summer due to a lack of posting being done there. I will be sure and send out information in all the usual places when that occurs.
Now about NaNoWriMo… I have participated, what, maybe the last four years? The first year I did not find out about it until the month was half gone and really only signed up to get a feeling for it and see how things worked. I did make some effort, but not that much. The next couple of years, for whatever reason, things happened, mostly at the office and just sidetracked my time, especially since that is when I started trying to complete NaBloPoMo at the same time and one had to choose the allocation of free time for one or the other. That leads me to last year, when I probably had sufficient time but just had a hard time getting motivated for the task once I started.
I am not sure why that was the case, other than perhaps it was that I was trying to work on a book idea that had been tossed around for the last couple of years already. It even has a good bit written for it and some notes going that move it forward from there. Two things happen though, the obvious a bit of boredom. The second, after tossing it around for that long, in contradiction of the whole idea of just writing and correcting later – it is easy to get bogged down in details in a work of historical context that the novel was to placed. And so I ended up loosing several days without real positive gain and the hole that I found myself in just became a anti-motivator.
So, where does that leave me? I have a couple of other ideas that I think maybe I should give a try to instead of the one I have worked with the last couple of attempts. I still have the desire to do that one and another novel project that was side-stepped sometime ago, but I think forward progress will be easier achieved with something new. Of the ideas, first is fishing stories – some true some not so much – but that is more a compilation of short stories instead of a novel – not that I object to such an idea. Another is to still do a historical fiction but set in a way back time, sometime between the twelfth and fourteenth century. Lastly of course would be something set in the modern world with one of the groups that I have done historical reenacting/recreation things with in the past. Much to ponder in the next six days on that front.

Very nice content indeed! About NaNoWriMo whatever you post here seems to me complicated content as so far. Hope you published so many in this issue!
