Herman Cain, Facts & Accusations
On this, the election day that is a year before the 2012 presidential elections I felt like it was about time get going with some of my thoughts on the candidates. My original thought was to even announce who it is that I am supporting for this endeavor – and based on my chose for governor, he is probably in trouble. Instead, I feel it is worth while of me to spend a bit of time pondering just what it is that Herman Cain is thinking? I am of the opinion that where there is enough smoke, there is probably a fire…
First, just to make sure that everyone is on the same page, there have now been four cases that have come forward in regards to Herman Cain being involved in sexual harassment. Despite what Cain and a LOT of the media is saying, not all of those are alleged at this point. As has been pointed out, despite Cain’s feeble memory on the events, at least one and I am pretty sure two were settled by agreement. While I do not have the facts before me, one has to assume that no agreement would have been reached if there were not any evidence that indicated the alleged (then, not now) sexual harassment. Fact is, that the agreement of some of some sort was reached and was brought about by a sexual harassment case. That is not alleged, but rather a matter of record. That is fact, since some, Cain and Fox News come to mind especially, keep saying alleged.
Of the other two cases, it would be correct to say alleged, given they have apparently not had any settlement or agreements. My personal thoughts on the matter though, as stated above. Where there is a lot of smoke, it is likely that there is a fire. I suspect, just as many who are guilty of sexual harassment, Cain does not consider whatever actions he did as being of a sexual harassment situation. Though, if the alleged case that was brought up Monday is true, how could he not?
Regardless, of the additional pending cases, is Cain fit to be president? Sexual harassment is bad enough and certainly has no place in any work situation since at least the 1970′s. But put that aside, and consider the man and inability to either remember major facts or straight out lying, depending on your view of the situation.
The fact is that Cain had sexual harassment cases brought up against him in the work place. When first noted and questioned it was a conspiracy and Cain could not recall any such incidents. Then, as the facts become more public in the matter, Cain did recall such a case being brought up, but there was not settlement because the case was without merit. As the facts became even more clear, now Cain’s camp claims there was an agreement with the accuser, but that is not a settlement. Cain went on to explain a settlement is a legal standing and agreement is like between people, like a contract.
