NaBloPoMo Suckage

I SuckA quick, and belated note that I suck this year in regards to NaBloPoMo. At least, on the one hand, I can say I did not fail with NaNoWriMo this year, having decided at the very last minute that I was just going to be too busy to pursue it effectively and not starting the pursuit 50,000 words despite having some preparations to contrary. On the other hand, by starting the one and getting off track after 1/2 of the thirty day challenge for blog posting daily, can I say I am any worse off? Not really, and compare that to the Congressional Super Committee’s performance the seemingly dire consequences that are likely to come from that seemingly epic failure.

That all being said, I am left wondering why things did not continue and even get back on track after a delay. Once again I had more then enough subjects, both noted and even as drafts that just need a little bit of polish, to easily cost through the end of the year, much less through the end of the month of November.

I am tempted, as always, to point at the obvious lack of time for completing the task at hand. But even that one, if I truly honest, does not stand up to scrutiny. Sure, I am as always, up to my neck in work for the newspapers, but that is always the case and is likely to continue for some time to come (which is a good thing mind you). No, I can not really blame that one, as it is part of the plan going into the month and a general knowledge that it has to be worked around.

I could pile on to that theory of time being less then required with the additional knowledge that I have chosen this month to do a few other things as well. A good deal of time, especially on the weekends has been spent on working on the back end of a business venture. But again that was time that was planned for in the beginning.

I also picked this time for moving my blogs from a virtual shared hosting platform (one server with many hosts with very limited CPU band) to a virtual host with set units of memory, bandwidth, memory and especially CPU. Truth be told, I had been looking for awhile, but I could have done it anytime. And in fact, it was probably a bit of procrastenation early on that lead to the project being done now. Though there was a lot of good knowledge and it just felt good setting up a server from the blank slate all the way through.

No, the reality is that I just lost focus and hence got lazy for a day or two there. I kept thinking I will go write that next blog post in a hour or so, right after I finish this little tweak on this or that or figure that out. Next thing I know, I have figured whatever that was out, along with ten other ‘thats’ and caught up on any DVR shows that needed attention, and then went and read for an hour on top of it. I just have no valid excuse other then to say, I such got lazy, lost focus, and suck.  But at least I do not suck as much as Congress…
