Dragon Dictation

Dragon dictation is another iPad application that I’ve come across. I actually install the application quite some time ago but I’ve never gotten around to actually use it. Today while sitting here for a few minutes I had some time to explore and to say I am impressed is an understatement. You can dictate to the app and with very little effort on my part, the app easily understood what I was saying and had no errors in the dictation. The app does not dictate directly to other apps, outside of a fairly short list, but cutting and pasting is allowed as well as saving as notes and such.

Drop Down Menu – Duh

Over the last couple of days I have gotten the new theme looking about the way I would like for it to. Admittedly, there are still a couple of things to still do, but most of what I set out to accomplish has been completed at this point. Last night however, when I was finishing the second menu, that falls below the header picture, I could not for the life of me figure out how to do the drop downs for the sub categories. I was pretty sure that there was a way to do it the new Custom Menu options that came along in the WordPress 3.0 version. However, after looking for some time, I started doing some searching on the web… But before I go to far with that, a couple of quick notes on some plugins

Revised Theme

First pass of the new theme that is using Weaver based on the Twenty-Ten theme was turned on early Monday and after a bit of tweaking is ready to mention it. The Weaver theme platform allows for a good deal of customizing, though not quite as much as the theme Atahualpa that I had been using most recently, but still a good amount of flexibility to achieve the look that is desired. Because it based on the Twenty-Ten theme and is written for the newer versions of WordPress, it does have several advantages and I think that the sometimes encountered slow load on the site was because of the funky way Atahualpa stored/retrieved settings – time will tell on that particular aspect of things.

IComLeavWe

What an awesome cool idea this little concept of IComLeavWe is. Okay, the name is a little odd and it is probably not what some of my friends are thinking, so a little clarification. It is indeed International Comment Leaving Week. The concept, apparently similarly NaBloPoMo started as a week in a given month. It now runs every month with specific cycle and range of dates and you can find more information over at what is a pretty interesting, but mostly topical blog called Stirrup Queens. That is another name that is not at all what I am sure a few of you are thinking and probably deserves some explanation as well, but I have to think through that one a bit.

WordPress, MobilePress, and Weaver Theme

Anyway, to get on the post and what is getting in my crawl a bit today is MobilePress. I also wanted to touch on the work I am doing with theme and point out that there could be some days where things are a little wonky while I work through that hazard. Both of which are things I am pretty sure I mentioned prior to my departure for the seven day immersion in a medieval time to the south of here.
