The movie food is a documentary all about the industrial food process we are subject to by a very few corporations here in the US – watch it and you will think twice about the next time you get dinner.
A couple of recent posts have resulted in a lot of personal comments to me both in person and in places where I post links to the blog such as Facebook and others. I thought it best to make just a couple of notes here in regards to those comments (Morning Caress & Save Historic Perryville).
I get updates in email newsletter from from the Kentucky Farm Bereau on occasion that are usually concerning with information of current commodity trends and occasionally has a bit information in regards to is happening with farming in the state. The most recent started with a blurb talking about the American Farm Bereau was disappointed that California had passed the proposition 2 in the recent election. The note suggested that the voters of the state really did not understand the nature of modern farming and the measure was going to have severe changes on agriculture in the state. It went so far as to suggest that livestock functions in the state would begin to disappear and that it would likely move overseas.
Recently read about a farm in Kentucky that operates using horse power as much as possibly for draft, is solar-powered, even the farm shop, sounds great. A few silly things about doors that are supposed to conserve energy and because of usage do NOT are also included.
Title is Libertarian vs. Agrarian, but what I am really doing is making the argument that they are really very similar and certainly not exclusive.
