Your letter indicates that effective March 1st my account that I have with you will begin to be charged a $5.00 monthly service fee. The letter goes on to indicate that this is because of the cost of my account and specifically in regards to having maintained an average daily balance of less than $200.00. My first reaction was you have got to be kidding me and my reaction since that time has went to m a much more negative place.

Not sure of the exact nature of it, but I have been extremely irritable the last couple of days. I do not really think it is me so much as it is the environment in which I find myself. I thought it worthy of sharing with you all and seeing if it was just me and some needless irrational aggravation on my part or if there really is some justification for my being so easily angered about these minor situations? So, here we go with raffle & giveaways, left-hand turners at stop signs into major traffic, and the truck and trailer who thinks parking in the street at rush hour is their right.

Tamcor Fitness Center, located not far from where I live here in Jessamine county is getting both of my thumbs down on their way of doing business today. I really hate that too, as it was a nice little gym that is really close to the house and I was planning on using them again this winter if they had a similar offering on a month to month basis as they did late last fall. As of today though I will not however set foot back in there in this lifetime as a paying customer, primarily because of really poor customer service but also just general business practices that I think are in the best light shady.

Anyone else noticing that the more obsolete the phone book and consequently the yellow pages are becoming how many more different variations of that once major source of information come to your house? My guess is that the reality is not only are the becoming obsolete but a vast majority of them, like the ones that randomly show up my house sit unused or maybe go straight to recycling without ever having been opened. As a friend and I were discussing the other day, when was the last time you used one those archaic devices to find a service? Okay, I admit if you are from a certain older generation and have not adapted to the modern technology such as the internet or the latest smart phone maybe you are still using them. Then again, you are also not reading my blog in all probability.

Why is that every once a while technology rears the ugly difficult head to the extreme? I ask, because most of the time technology and me get along just fine and have very few problems. But then there are those odd occasions, much as what has been going on for most of last week and has continued on into this week. It is during times like this one that I am just convinced that I was getting a bit cocky, unawares mind you, about some aspect of conquering technology and technology has decided to call me and hence put me in my place. Examples abound from the last few days, but let me go over just a few of them to give you all some idea of my recent frustration.

I have to say it - what is up with the freaking snow? Okay, I know everyone else here in Kentucky was at this point about four weeks ago to be sure. I mean after all, the first snow at my house was back before Thanksgiving and we had two that were indeed measurable before the weather forecasters in the Lexington area ever forecast or acknowledged a measurable snow. And yes, I was the one that complained and felt cheated by the snowpocolypse passing us by last week leaving us relatively untouched. On the other hand, I did note I wanted one big snow and let it be the end of things at that point - that I was getting a little tired of the constant one to four-inch snows that are just enough disrupt everything, but yet not enough to really cause anything I am involved with (outside of the fun stuff) to be canceled.

Something that really gets in my crawl in a major way is all the specialized browser tools. It is a big frustration to me and I am sure it is to the world in general as well. The whole point of the original format of the HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) was to be universal. It was to be interpreted by the browser of course and displayed on the screen in a free flow format. Of course each browser could interpret each set of commands slightly different and show up on the screen in a different format. That was fine though, so long as the content within the framework was the same all was good. Times have changed however, and with each turn of the crank, where in theory we should be moving closer to not only universal implementation but the same view we instead specialize and go farther away from hardly anything on the web being universal.

I have not done a group of my short observations in a while and decided it was time to do so. I have a list that is from around Christmas, but I will come back to that one. This one was a list that I had already started and especially came back to when I was writing another blog entry. It was during that writing (see common sense below) that I realized it was only a few words and completely contained. Anyway, without further ado here is some of the things I have been observing and perhaps am continuing to observe here in the early part of the new year, 2011...

How many of those various wallet sized cards are enough? You know what I am talking about - credit cards, debit cards, loyalty cards, discount cards, and with the most recent season gift cards. Just how big is my wallet? Of course me personally, I hate carrying a wallet. It always makes my behind seem uneven when sitting (whose idea was that anyway?). But I have taken to small money and card holder that I do put in a jacket or shirt pocket - but it is overflowing. Overflowing and half the cards are in a folder that I is usually in my computer pack. But just as the folks the coffee shop earlier today felt, enough is enough.
