I realize it is a bit early to be started with resolutions, but I have one or two things that are really bugging me. I figure why put off until tomorrow that which can at least be started today. Largely, despite a couple of false starts, going back to even before I got married in the spring I have done nothing but be lazy and get fatter. I have had enough and I have got to do something about that before it gets out of hand.
Nicholasville Road traffic can be enough to drive the most calm commuter insane at times. It starts to pick up at the Jessamine/Fayette County line and gets extremely congested fairly quickly. However, despite the numerous people using the road, outside of those special events like ballgames and concerts, Christmas shopping in and around the malls and of course accidents, traffic generally moves along fairly quickly. That is, until you get down to just before the University of Kentucky Medical Center and the lanes available narrow to just two, regardless of the time of day and the traffic flow.
I hear all the time from the various Linux die-hards that I know and read on the various message boards that it is incredible that the various Linux distributions do not see higher adoption rates. They are of course considering it logically given the functional capabilities of the of the distros when combined with the customization that is so easily at hand. Heck, I am sure to the right group of people I come off as one of those ‘die-hards’. I mean, after all, I boot into Linux of some sort everyday – so what is my issue with the Linux folks? What they are missing still though is the ease of getting the system going…
Dear American Football, Please consider this my official Dear John letter to you. I have, over the last several weeks and even seasons become really dis-enchanted with most of your purported sport and have finally reached my last straw. I will no longer be a general watcher of your sport going forward. I have been coming to this break with your sport for some time now, but events over the last several weeks have just completely cemented my choice to abandon you. Honestly, I have never been a super big fan, other than the shared something to do in an often social environment, so my abandonment comes easily enough. After all, no big fan of any one team, but rather the fan of any game that offers a good level of competition. I am sure you are perhaps finding this as a surprise and maybe I am just catching you off guard completely, so I will fill you in on a few details as to why we are reaching this end of our sometimes Saturday and Sunday relationship.
Anyone else noticing around a 10% jump in gasoline pricing this week? You can largely think the federal reserve banking system for that. Yeah, the same folks that were largely involved in the wall street bailout because several brokerage banks were too large to fail have screwed middle class America once again by causing what will likely end up being over $3.00 per gallon gasoline in the very near future. I am sure some of you are saying wait just a minute, what can the federal reserve do to effect gasoline pricing and wasn’t there a refinery fire this past week as well?
