United States & Democracy

Anyone not heard about what is going on with Egypt right now? A short recap, there are some major protests going on against the current government that is in power there. The person largely in power there at the current time is a fellow by the name of Hosni Mubarak and though there have been some shame elections, he is largely a dictator who has been in charge for about thirty years. The primary aim the loosely organized, largely peaceful protests? The ousting of Mubarak and the corrupt government and policies that are currently holding on to Egypt despite itself. Of course, what does this have to do with the United States and democracy I am sure a few of you are wondering?

Snow, Snowpocolypse, Snowmagedon, SOMG!

Get the idea about snow being the subject? I got a dirty little secret about the snow. Well, not so much secret as I am telling everyone here and really not all that dirty though I think a few people will not like it. I am more than a little disappointed that Central Kentucky is missing out on the big horrible snow of the season and likely to be the one of the decade and maybe even for a couple of score of years. Yeah, you heard me right, dismayed that it is missing us. I am sure some are thinking, “Are you kidding?” I mean, have we not had enough snow already this winter?

Gym

Last night I joined a gym again. I had been debating about doing this for sometime. Heck, sometime is a huge under statement as I know I was contemplating it even back in the fall and maybe before that even. I had kind of decided that it was good idea and would get me in shape and/or keep me in shape over the winter months, especially from November through about March. Of course I had not gotten around to doing things and kept thinking about it and even called around and got prices and such as that.

Death of Suits & Rock-n-Roll

Anyone else out there listen to NPR? In the last couple of weeks they have announced both the death of a men’s suit and rock and roll. I suppose that I really should not be shocked by the latter has certainly felt the death of the former occurred sometime ago. I was a little shocked to hear both of them being announced on NPR in such a short time span and especially the suit story coming from them really means the suit is indeed dead.

Social Network – Facebook

The wife and I went to see social network the movie earlier this evening. It was quite an enjoyable movie. It is unfortunately only going to be playing for a very short amount of time in the theaters, as it is already starting to be available on DVD/Blu-Ray and will be available on pay per view very soon. Of course I saw it at the dollar theatre and definitely thought it was worth the price of admission. If you have an opportunity to see it in any of these medians I would highly recommend it but only if you are ‘geeky’ by myself.
