Heard a little snippet on the radio (NPR of course) on the way home about a lady who had written an article or perhaps it was a how to for a recipe. The content of her article appeared in a magazine by the name of Cook Source, giving her a full credit as the author. Trouble is, she had originally published the article on a website and had never granted any sort of rights to Cook Source to publish the work. When she called the publisher of the Cook Source magazine asking for simply an apology in print and a $130.00 donation to a writers scholarship fund (or something of the nature), the publisher said she should be grateful that they even bothered to put her name in the by line, as they got it from the web and everything on the web is in the public domain. I nearly choked and sure would have if I had anything in my mouth at the time.
I had the time and met a friend in the Cincinnati area a few weeks ago with a plan to head on up to the Art Museum. It was a fabulous plan and well worth the short trip from down here in central Kentucky if you at all appreciate art. Cost for most of the exhibit is free by the way, though there is a parking fee.
Laying in bed, holding someone you care about has to be some of the sweetest moments that I think can possibly exist. As such a moment occurred in the not so distant past I kept thinking in my half awake state how one would capture something like that artistically. The more I thought of that the more I realized how come I could never truly be an artist and am instead left to appreciate the artistic endeavors of others. My thoughts ran something akin to the following:
A few days back I went with a few friends out to a gallery hop in Lexington. The idea of the gallery hop is that several different galleries in the and near the downtown area are open late, all have exhibits of some nature. And to encourage some social interaction most have the artist present along with some finger foods and beverages, including much cheese and wine.
