Continuing with my observation of some issues of late, here are a few more that I am feeling the need to bring up. A little bit of a political bend again, but not all of them and even the ones that are can also go into other categories. Speaking of observing, I know some folks gave some really good feedback way back when I first started the idea. How is it being viewed now? I know the biggest request I have had is more consistency with when it happens, which is something I am working on. Right now I am leaning toward Monday and keeping Friday as the big happenings in technology. Anyway, on to my observations...

It has been a few days since I have posted here and not for a lack of things to comment about. In fact, I have made a note of something to post about at about a rate of two-three per day. Obviously I have been a bit pushed for time the last couple of weeks. So, with that in mind and feeling that I really wanted to get some of this out there an almost random observations, though a good number of them are from the political arena. After all, the presidential race for 2011 got an official kick off in the last couple of weeks and that is always such a promising field for fodder coming from my mind as candidates say and do some surprising (and often dumb) things.

If you have been here to Mephistos before, you may have noticed a slight variation on the color scheme today. I am giving in to the dark, er, light, side of things and giving it a try. For those that do not recall, the typical scheme in the last year or two has been a dark green back ground with bright white text on top of it. At this point, I am giving it a try the inverse direction, which is, according to some weird law of internet acceptable visual presentation the more proper way to do things. Granted, I am just giving it a try at this point but I do welcome thoughts and opinions on the matter.

Finding Un-leashing my muse. You may have noticed over the last few weeks months that my blogging has been less than regular. I had an epiphany a couple of days ago though about that which has my muse bottled up. Now to be sure, I have had a lot of things on my mind the last couple of months, especially with figuring out what has been going on with me and diagnosed with MS, but there is more. I have this focus with perfection that gets in the way of my muse way to often.

Trying something that we have done in some ways before but with a little bit of a different aim and twist here at Mephistos going forward. The short little entries in one blog that have often been called observations of some sort or another will continue and be varied as they usually have and hopefully more regular. In addition to that, I am staring a new them of observations called technology observations that will tentatively give my thoughts, opinions, and at least a heads up on some of the newest technological breakthroughs to come along. The focus will typically be those things that have occurred in the last week and the aim is to do this regularly on Fridays. Lets get to it for the week of May 6th and a little more, maybe even a month since this is the first time...

Interesting conversation heard this past Friday on NPR while driving to Kansas city with an author on the subject matter. Granted there are several mathematical theories that suggest and point to the idea of instead a single universe, instead multiple universes. It is certainly an interesting subject matter to consider, given the different theories of how they exist and even how they would have come into being given the different theories. What I find most interesting though is the concept that given an infinite number of space (and perhaps one could argue the same for time) for things to occur within and the apparent finite building blocks of matter, at some point it is very likely that some other universe would approach very closely and perhaps even be an exact replica of this one in which we are currently living and breathing, even having this thought. In those close but not exact other universes instead of sitting here in a coffee shop writing this I could be out on a lake fishing and in other similar one I could be in armor getting ready to head down the lane for a jousting pass.

A few observations for my birth month are in order I thought. In fact, if I get this done before something else catches my attention, this post will actually appear in the morning on my actual birthday. Most of these are actually technological in nature so apologies to those that do not care so much for the technological aspect of things I tend to post. On the other hand, not all of them are so you should still browse through the list of observations just in case you come across that odd something that you do find interesting that you had not heard about up until this point. And without further ado, let me get started with the observations for February...

I have to say it - what is up with the freaking snow? Okay, I know everyone else here in Kentucky was at this point about four weeks ago to be sure. I mean after all, the first snow at my house was back before Thanksgiving and we had two that were indeed measurable before the weather forecasters in the Lexington area ever forecast or acknowledged a measurable snow. And yes, I was the one that complained and felt cheated by the snowpocolypse passing us by last week leaving us relatively untouched. On the other hand, I did note I wanted one big snow and let it be the end of things at that point - that I was getting a little tired of the constant one to four-inch snows that are just enough disrupt everything, but yet not enough to really cause anything I am involved with (outside of the fun stuff) to be canceled.

Anyone not heard about what is going on with Egypt right now? A short recap, there are some major protests going on against the current government that is in power there. The person largely in power there at the current time is a fellow by the name of Hosni Mubarak and though there have been some shame elections, he is largely a dictator who has been in charge for about thirty years. The primary aim the loosely organized, largely peaceful protests? The ousting of Mubarak and the corrupt government and policies that are currently holding on to Egypt despite itself. Of course, what does this have to do with the United States and democracy I am sure a few of you are wondering?
