Dirt on My Tires

Dirt on my tires and truck has had me thinking about where I have been and maybe just a bit about where I am going, but especially mindful of a number of things that I have left behind and come back to lately.

Kelo vs. New London

Five years ago this past week the Supreme Court of the United States upheld what was one the worst decisions ever made in the American court system. That decision was in the Kelo vs. New London case, where eminent domain was used by the a private corporation to oust Susette Kelo and others from their private property. This particular case is one of the worse examples of government stepping on the individual civil liberties of a person that I can imagine.

More Green

Earth day has come and gone and I did little observe it, outside of my normal habits of recycling and really thinking hard about a lot of things that I do that I feel contribute an over all negative impact to the environment. That all being said, a few things I have done at the new place that I am settling into has made me realize that you do not have to achieve 100% from the get go, but rather many small steps will eventually go a long way.

Wet vs. Dry

We have an election concerning expanding alcohol sales here in Danville to include that of packaged sales. For those outside of the area, let me be clear – you can already get it by the drink in several establishments, as well as packaged in several nearby counties, including a less than thirty minute drive in at least three directions. And yes, you guessed it, I have an opinion.

Goals for 2010

Some goals that I am setting for myself in 2010, some are simple some are complex, some are minimum effort and some will require a lot. Score me at the end of the year, as I seem to not do that myself.
