Code is Poetry

codeI have not done much coding at all the last several years and really almost none professionally.  I have had the occasion of late to apply my skills at some limited coding when I was making some alterations to the most recent theme here on the blog.  In the process of doing that, I realized just how much I missed it. Linux – Old Times

LinuxOne of the odder things about my new job is the use of a Windows machine, especially after hardly touching Windows outside a server or troubleshooting someone else’s computer for the last seven years or so.  So, I am allowed to put Linux on my work laptop, but for some reason it is giving me some trouble.  I was determined last night and so stayed up very late and eventually went to bed without success… Continue reading “Linux – Old Times”

Fantasy Football Fanatic!

Fantasy FootballFantasy Football  is the biggest advantage the NFL has to ensuring the overall audience that the could ever home to have.  It has me watching games that I only have a modest interest to see one of my fantasy players.  For instance, last night I watched the game way after I thought it was decided for Green Bay, just because I wanted to see how many fantasy points Julio could pack on to my win. S&S Tire – New Job

S&STireFor most it is probably not a surprise at this point, but maybe for a few of you it is.  About three weeks back I started a new job!  I left my employer (the Advocate Messenger) of just over eight years to pursue a position with S&S Tire in Lexington, Kentucky.  If I have the count correct, I have been at the new job right at three weeks and so far I am thinking this switch is one of the best moves I have made, ever. Torn: E-books vs. Paper Books

LOTRI know, I have had this debate before, but I am still being torn between the idea of which is better – the traditional book, made of paper that is printed on, especially a hard back volume and the e-book reader version that I can get so handily on my Kindle device (or for that matter my iPad, laptop, or even desktop computer). I keep thinking back on all those wonderful years I have had with books, but similarly keep thinking about the pluses of the electronic edition and some of the greener ideas behind it as well. I was especially thinking of this today while watching the Lord of the Rings Trilogy movies this afternoon, based upon probably my favorite books ever, by J.R.R. Tolkien.

Rising SunYes, you read that right – AppSumo. Sound it out and you got it. If you are still having a problem, think app as in application, like software and sumo as the big Japanese wrestler type. Now you got the name down, but are still wondering what the heck it is right? Think of it kind of like a Groupon or Daily Deals kind of site for geeks. Actually, take it on step further. Not just geeks, but specifically those of geeks that tend to support computer networks and server or even better develop/write code for them.

Finding My Muse

Elijah Craig BourbonFinding Un-leashing my muse. You may have noticed over the last few weeks months that my blogging has been less than regular. I had an epiphany a couple of days ago though about that which has my muse bottled up. Now to be sure, I have had a lot of things on my mind the last couple of months, especially with figuring out what has been going on with me and diagnosed with MS, but there is more. I have this focus with perfection that gets in the way of my muse way to often.
