Heard a little snippet on the radio (NPR of course) on the way home about a lady who had written an article or perhaps it was a how to for a recipe. The content of her article appeared in a magazine by the name of Cook Source, giving her a full credit as the author. Trouble is, she had originally published the article on a website and had never granted any sort of rights to Cook Source to publish the work. When she called the publisher of the Cook Source magazine asking for simply an apology in print and a $130.00 donation to a writers scholarship fund (or something of the nature), the publisher said she should be grateful that they even bothered to put her name in the by line, as they got it from the web and everything on the web is in the public domain. I nearly choked and sure would have if I had anything in my mouth at the time.
Sometime in the last few posts the blog has went over the four century mark on the number of post. Congratulations are perhaps in order, but not so fast I say. You have not see anything yet. Once of things that I have worked toward the last year or two has been much more consistent posting. Last year you may recall that I participated in both the National Blog Posting Month (NaBloPoMo) and National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) during the month of November. For NaBloPoMo we were successful in 2009, at least here on Mephistos. As for knocking out a rough novel in a month and the other blogs, well, lets just say a valiant effort was made. As we approach the month of November for the 2010 year we are gearing up with a slightly different plan…
Categorized sub-menus are a good direction for WordPress to have moved into and after delving into it myself I have realized it actually does make a lot of sense to use them.
After a large amount of work over the last several late evenings, I am happy to announce the ‘new’ look that Mephistos now has.
After having been a blogger for a few years now, I have realized a few things. One of those is that my ability to write has much improved.
A short little blog about a blog contest I am entering over on The Colors Magazine.
